HOME & SCHOOL CLUB VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES!
The Home & School Club invite you to volunteer for any of the committees listed below. Parent volunteers are needed for events and committees throughout the year. Please contact the committee chair listed below for more information about volunteering. Thank you in advance for getting involved in our amazing school community.
Committees (listed alphabetically):
Birthday Book Club
Ginger Tai - email@example.com
Your $20 donation will sponsor a new book during your child's birthday month. Your child will pick from a shelf of brand new books, be the first one to check the book out and receive a book plate with their name and birthday on the inside cover. It's a fun and lasting way to help raise money for the library.
The week-long book fair will be held October 7th thru 11th, 2019. Monies raised go directly into buying books for the classrooms and the library. Quality fiction, non-fiction and gifts for students and families are available. Additionally, donations to teachers, library and staff wish lists can be purchased. An evening family event and story time is a highlight of this event.

Look for the "Boxtops for Education" symbol on your food product box. Tear it off and send it back to your school. We send them off and get money back! They are on General Mills, Betty Crocker, Hefty, Green Giant, Kleenex, Cottonelle and much more! Click here for a list of eligible products.
Help us maintain the beauty of our campus. We need volunteers to help pull weeds, plant flowers and improve the overall look of our school. One yearly fund a need party helps with bigger on-site projects.

We dream up ways to improve our school, our neighborhood, and our world, then jump in and put those ideas into action! From collecting new socks for San Rafael’s homeless community, to donating Halloween candy to our military, to helping pets in need, to recycling used markers and picking up trash, our Community Heroes are making our community the very best it can be! The 2019 meetings will be held at lunchtime on the following dates. Mrs. Foehr will make an announcement right before the meeting starts… so bring your lunch and get ready to help YOUR community! Each classroom takes a turn staffing the drop-off lane to ensure our kids can get to school safely, we can keep traffic moving, and get parents on their way. Your teacher and grade level rep will notify you when it is your classroom’s turn. Please sign up for a 15 min slot.
Fall Festival and Trunk or Treat
This is our annual FUNraiser. Come dress in your spooky costume and have fun playing games, winning raffle baskets, making an art craft, and trunk-or-treating. This event cannot be held without every parent helping.
This is held at the end of the school year by our PE Specialist for all students. Students participate in a wide variety of field activities, and parents are needed to help run the activities. The Home and School Club provides a morning snack and hot dog lunch for everyone.
Fifth Grade Graduation
Committee to plan and oversee the 5th grade graduation ceremony and party
Linda Gregory - email@example.com
Vallecito makes a major effort to reduce our carbon footprint -- and raise money for the school -- by collecting recyclable materials every Friday morning.
Holiday Food Drive
Lindy Burgon - Lindyburgon@gmail.com
Vallecito thinks of those families in need through our annual food drive. All families are encouraged to donate food items, and this year we donated thousands of pounds of food to the Marin Community Food Bank. Food collection generally takes place after Halloween prior to the Thanksgiving break.
Holiday Community Project
This is our annual community service project, in which families donate toiletry, games and other treats. These items are placed in stockings made by students and distributed to need organizations. Many parents are needed to assist with making the stockings and helping to deliver the stockings with the students.
Beverages and snacks are served at many Vallecito events: Back-to-School Nights, Holiday Assembly, Open House, Fall Festival, Teacher Appreciation lunches, and Field Day. If you can donate food items and/or help serve, please let us know.
Oversee weekly volunteers for lunchtime landfill/food waste/recycling program.
New Family Play Date

Safe Routes to School
Srujana Uddanda - firstname.lastname@example.org
Getting to and from school safely is a high priority at Vallecito. We kick off the program each year by celebrating the national walk and bike to school day. Help us promote safety with our students, whether they walk, bike or drive to school.
The school sign in front of the Staff Parking Lot is updated weekly. Can you spare 15 minutes a week? With more hands, we can alternate the volunteers.
Spanish Families Liaison
Violeta Castro-Garcia email@example.com
Alice Tacheny - firstname.lastname@example.org
All students wear their T-shirts on spirit days (Wednesdays), and are encouraged to wear them on field trips. Help sell all spirit wear to families during specific events.
We have an amazing amount of talent at Vallecito -- everything from singing, dancing, telling jokes, playing an instrument, or doing magic tricks!
Teacher Appreciation Days
HSC Presidents & All Grade Level Reps – please contact your grade level representative
Show your teachers and staff that you appreciate them all year round. Each grade level takes a turn hosting a staff appreciation luncheon and we celebrate National Teacher Appreciation Week in May.
Lisa Schwartz email@example.com
This event is held in the Spring and all Vallecito students participate. Students are sponsored by parents, grandparents, neighbors, and friends. They walk around the field for as many laps as their legs can take. This is a very important fundraiser and we need parents to help organize and help during the day.
Jen Imbimbo firstname.lastname@example.org
